The Preschool Classroom
To your preschooler, nothing is impossible!
Nurturing Bright Young Minds.
Your 3-year-old is opening up their world, developing special friendships, learning words and forming ideas every day. Through purposeful play and nurturing guidance from teachers, children learn to think in new and bigger ways as they build Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts. Your child will have so much fun that they won’t even realize they are developing their math and literacy skills.

Focus on Learning and Christian Values:
We will maintain a balance between structured and unstructured activities and all activities will be supervised.
Throughout the day we will encourage positive social interactions as children learn to share, communicate, cooperate, and care. They will develop a true feeling of self-worth as they learn to make positive choices, develop self-sufficiency, and realize true love through Jesus Christ.
The true value of the centers is that they are an integrated part of a whole curriculum. This curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate activities for each child. These activities will be presented so that children can explore concepts as they play. Students will receive a balance of play and teacher-initiated activities to meet the individual needs of the whole child. Some activities will engage the entire group, and some experiences are best learned as small-group activities.
Curriculum Goals
Throughout the curriculum we will encourage the development of the Christian virtues of love, friendship, forgiveness, helping, sharing, self-discipline, responsibility, work, honesty, courage, commitment, thankfulness and faith. By combining God, families, and teachers, we are hopeful we can provide a rich educational environment for each child.
Curriculum Overview
Throughout the curriculum we will encourage the development of the Christian virtues of love, friendship, forgiveness, helping, sharing, self-discipline, responsibility, work, honesty, courage, commitment, thankfulness and faith. By combining God, families, and teachers, we are hopeful we can provide a rich educational environment for each child.
Teachers act as partners, working alongside children and communicating with them both verbally and nonverbally to encourage learning. Key strategies for adult-child interactions are sharing control with children, communicating as a partner with children, scaffolding children’s play, using encouragement instead of praise, and taking a problem-solving approach to supporting children in resolving conflicts.
To create a predictable and active learning environment, teachers arrange and equip the classroom with diverse, open-ended materials that reflect children’s home, culture, and language. The room is organized and labeled to promote independence and encourage children to carry out their intentions.
A consistent framework for the day provides a balanced variety of experiences and learning opportunities. Children engage in both individual and social play, participate in small- and large-group activities, assist with cleanup, socialize during meals, develop self-care skills, and exercise their small and large muscles. The most important segment of the daily routine is the plan-do-review sequence, in which children make decisions about what they will do, carry out their ideas, and reflect upon their activities with adults and other children. These higher-level thinking skills are linked to the development of executive functions, which are needed to be successful in school and life.
Objective anecdotal observations of children collected throughout children’s natural play allow teachers to assess child progress and plan meaningful learning experiences. Formal assessments are completed at the end of each semester.
