SCHOOL PICTURE DAY - is Thursday, Sept. 7th. Order forms were sent home with your child today. Please have your child bring the picture order form to school with them on the 7th. Even if you are not ordering any prints, they will get their picture taken to be included in the yearbook. CHRISTIAN PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION- The purpose of Shepherd of the Valley’s CPTA is to improve family and faculty fellowship. SVLS parents help in the organizing of events and all parents are encouraged to attend our meetings as families are what makes SVLS, and you are important in making this happen. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 5 at 6:30 in the commons. We'll introduce our officers, set a rough schedule of events for the school year and plan one of our biggest events of the year - Grandparents' Day - set for Friday, September 22nd. Please join us to discover some fun ways to volunteer at our school. Every parent is welcome!

ENTERING THE CAMPUS - We are asking the parents to turn right onto the loop and then enter the parking lot from the south. If you are coming into the building with your child use a parking spot. Be sure to observe the parking restriction for handicap spots CHAPEL - The first chapel service will be Friday, August 25th at 8:45am. FOR THOSE TIMES WHEN YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE RIDING THE BUS - Parents be sure to communicate to your child’s teacher when your child is not riding the bus. This should be in written form. AFTERSCHOOL PICKUP - At 3:50 pm, children not picked up from school will be automatically sent to EDP (Extended Day Program) and parents will be billed in half-hour increments. After the third unscheduled EDP use, families will be required to pay the one-time $10.00 registration fee in addition to any hourly fees. SCRIP - Families - weekly scrip will resume this week. Please watch the school calendar for short school weeks when we will not be processing scrip orders. If you are not currently ordering scrip, please ask Jen Grady (920-810-3884), the scrip coordinator, how to get started! It allows you to reduce your tuition bill! The topic is Teenage Suicide, warning signs and prevention. It is free admission and child care. Doors will open at 6:00pm. There is free child care for children ages 4 and up. Presenter is Elizabeth Robinson of Christian Family Solutions. Tickets will be available at SVLS starting September 4th. FVL SCHOOLS BAND PROGRAM - Registration for the 2017-2018 FVL Schools Band Program is now open! To register for the 2017-2018 school year, simply go to the FVL Schools Band Program website at http://fvlschools.org/fvl-schools-band. Once there you will see more information about our program, and a few links on the homepage. Simply click on "Registration/Documents". Once there, you will be taken to more information and a form for registering. Follow the instructions as given. We would like all registrations to be completed by August 31 so we can prepare our school lesson schedules. Your Child will be bringing home offering envelopes. Encourage them to bring them in on Friday’s for Chapel. SVLS will be supporting the following with our offerings in the 2017-18 school year. First quarter Children’s Offerings will go to Jesus Cares Ministries has been helping people in crisis since 1980 and has been incorporated since 1983. They have provided a safe place for pregnant and troubled teens, many of whom had been physically and sexually abused. Jesus Cares Ministries Maternity Program offered a live-in program, as well as counseling, referrals, and an outreach to family members of our residents. From 1997- 2009 Jesus Cares Ministries Men's Program serviced those struggling with homelessness due to the bondage of addiction cycles.F.I.T. (Families In Transition) Housing operated in the valley from 2009 - 2016 reaching out to couples and individuals by providing safe, affordable housing. The ministry offers training tools and support to other ministries/churches wanting to stabilize individuals/families in a live-in or outreach setting. Second quarter Children’s Offerings will go to The mission of The Edgar H. and Meta A. Hoenecke Vulnerable Children’s Foundation Inc. is to fund the construction and operation of schools owned and operated by congregations of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa (LCCA). The Foundation seeks to place vulnerable children of Zambia into a Christian educational setting while they are young to educate them for productive lives on earth and share with them the saving message of Jesus Christ for eternity. Third and Fourth quarter Children’s Offering will go to Redemption Lutheran Church in Watertown N.Y. Redemption is a new church plant that is passionate about gathering for worship, growing in the Word, and sharing the message of redemption through Jesus. Redemption Church is just getting started. We are excited to help them reach out to their community and to share God’s love with it.
