American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge
This year as the AHA celebrates 40 years of their school programs, we will be participating in the Kids Heart Challenge to support their cause. Children will be able to sign up online to take the heart health challenge and potentially earn $300 in physical education/recess equipment for SVLS. Children also will be able to gather donations for the AHA through May 3.

CPTA News
Our last CPTA meeting of the 2018-19 school year is coming up Monday May 6.
At this meeting, we will be having a guest speaker, Mr. Jim Price. Mr. Price works for Primerica and is a member at St. Paul Appleton. Mr. Price will be speaking on the topic “The Investment of Christian Education: How to Make it Possible.”
We want to ask everyone to join us for some finger foods and, if you'd like, to bring something to share. Please plan to arrive by 6 pm, as the speaker will be starting at 630 promptly.
Childcare will be provided in the gym.
We hope to see you all there!

At our April CPTA meeting, a program was brought to our attention, a project called ABC (A Bench for Caps). This program was designed by children for children as a teaching tool for lifetime habits of GREEN LIVING. Children promise to send caps that have been sorted by them to remove metal and other contaminants. Green Tree Plastics promises to put their caps into a bench for our school! See the next page of this newsletter for a list of accepted lids. If you would like more information you can visit www.greentreeplastics.com.
To collect lids, SVLS will be holding a LID WAR from April 23-26.
Each classroom will have a container to hold their caps, and at the end of the week CPTA will weigh the containers to see what class has the most caps (by weight)!
The winning classroom will receive a surprise prize, so start collecting your lids!
